Course Certification: TLAER, Inc. course curriculum provides Awareness Level Certification in Technical Animal Rescue Standards, which mirror the training model outlined by the fire service in NFPA Standard 1670. In addition, this course may qualify for CE hours for Montana-licensed DVMs and Veterinary Technicians. See the Board of Veterinary Medicine webpage for more information. Participation certificates will be emailed to attendees within two weeks of the course conclusion.

Course Times: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day. Finish times are approximate and may vary slightly based on weather, training exercises, and other logistics. In order to receive certification, all participants are required to attend the entire course.

Course Location: Miller Livestock Pavilion, 2730 W Garfield St, Bozeman, MT

Registration: $175 per person by April 13; $200 per person April 14 and later. All fees must be paid in full by May 2 at 8:00 am unless prior arrangements are made with MVMA.

Cancellation Policy: We regret that refunds cannot be issued unless the TLAER Course is cancelled by the instructor. However, registration is transferable to another attendee. Please contact MVMA prior to May 2 if a change is made so registration materials can be updated. Email any changes to [email protected].

Meals: Your registration includes lunch, breaks and drinks each day. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated if possible.

Lodging: A room block has been reserved for TLAER Registrants at the Best Western Plus GranTree Inn-Bozeman, at a rate of $160/night plus taxes/fees. Reservation information will be sent to all registrants.

About the trainer:

Rebecca (Gimenez) Husted published the first textbook on Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (Wiley-Blackwell) in 2008. She is a decorated combat veteran, retired Signal Officer, US ARMY, holds BS (Biology) Wofford College, PhD (Animal Physiology) Clemson University. She provides training in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAERTM ) techniques across the US and internationally. She has published numerous critiques, techniques and journal articles on a variety of technical subjects in large animal disaster and emergency rescue, horse barn fires, and heavy rescue of large animals. She is a Principal/SME member of the Technical Committee of the NFPA Standard 150 – Animal Housing and contributes to equine welfare committees and others defining technical competencies for large animal rescue around the world.
